Well, a new season is upon us and we have recently received the information on the stages to be used in this years Snowman Rally and are currently awaiting permission from the Forestry Commission to access the forests.

A number of competitors who have gone to order online for the Snowman Rally have called our office as they could not order Map Books for the event. Regrettably, there may well be a change to the products we are offering for the Snowman Rally, and probably other rounds of the Championship for 2012. Our contract with the Championship is to provide Route Notes and Safety DVD, but we have since we started doing notes always offered Map Books to competitors. However, this year will be different for a number of reasons in relation to the provision of Map Books for events, and these are outlined below:

• sales of map books have been dropping year on year with the average number sold per event in 2011 being 16 which is a marginal number in terms of covering costs including the OS commercial licence & associated Royalties
• events themselves have been increasing the range of products they are providing competitors to include printed maps
• due to other priorities which is understandable, some events have occasionally not supplied us the information we need (it should be noted they were/are not obliged to do so under the SRC Contract) to complete a map book in sufficient time for these to be dispatched with Notes, which has resulted in these either being sent out separately or collected at events, neither of which is ideal.
• if, as we believe may be the case, events will be requesting a fee for the information to enable us to provide map books we will, regrettably given the numbers we sell, not be able to justify this and we will probably not be providing map books for these events. It should be noted, we understand not all events are following the fee format and would be grateful if you monitor our site for updates on an event by event basis.

In appreciation of the information we received from an event in previous years, we normally gave each event 3-4 copies of the map books F.O.C. which were often given to the Stewards, and we gave a similar number to the Championship which were normally used by the TV crews filming each event. However, if fees are being charged then we will need to look at this further.

We are sorry we have had to make this decision but hope you understand why, and hope that we will be providing map books on some events this year or if there is a sufficient increase in demand for Map Books to be able to justify paying the event a fee for this information then we will provide for those events as well.

We will still be offering OS Landranger maps, and if these are required please order these when you order your Notes. Please keep looking at our web site for event updates (including the Snowman) and further information.

The initial scheduled dispatch date for notes for the Snowman Rally is Tuesday 7th February for those orders received by close of business (5pm) on the 3rd February. Orders received after close of business on the 3rd February will be dispatched as soon as possible after the 7th February with the last date for posting being Wednesday 15th February (Special Delivery only on 15th)

ONLINE ORDERING: Order your route notes for the next event through this website. Simply log in with your username and password using the panel on the left. Once in the User menu click on SHOP and progress through to order; route notes, map books and DVD's. Once in the checkout area you can select your delivery options and pay.

Alternatively you can order by downloading an order form from the website, filling it in and posting to us with payment enclosed.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Order forms must be in our possession 14 days before the event to ensure your order is processed and the goods dispatched 10 days prior to the event. Orders received after this time will be dispatched within 5 working days from receipt of order. If you are Scottish Rally Championship registered competitor we need to have your order on the Friday two weeks before the event at the latest to be eligible for the discount! Any orders received within the 14 days leading up to the event will NOT be eligible for the discount.
